well hello

well, i must say! it's been a wonderful time. my holiday in england is coming nearly to a close now. i return home on monday the 24th.

lately i've been having slight nightmares about school. i keep dreaming that i am not up to par on my instrument or something. i've also been worrying about my grades, you know. i am really going to try to work very hard this term and get all A's. i am behind now because of how stupid things went for me this past term. i'm trying to get over it but i don't think i'll be able to until i see it in writing. oh well!

i met up with richard which was quite nice. we went to st. alban's and saw the cathedral and a museum filled with interesting roman artifacts. very fun stuff. richard listens to some really great music so i'm hoping he'll send some my way.

i am a finbin

hello. i'm in england, day three i think. well, a lot has happened but my sister did not charge her digital camera and i didn't realise this so i don't have an adapter for it so i don't have any immediately uploadable photos.

there was some sort of strike going on when i got her so i had to ride the train to bromley alone. it wasn't too bad. there is so much to write about, now that i think about it, that i don't feel like writing it all down. i'll try to make this short.

lost my glasses, ordered some news ones. got a buy one get one pair free deal. exchange some money, bought some chocolate. drank some champagne (not much it's such a foreign taste to this mouth). ate lots of great homecooked food thanks be to the graciousness that is catherine's mum. went to shorling, took loads of photos. ate a nice lunch. elmo the dog came along and ran in the river, quite a sight! he's a silly dog.

listend to great music thanks to chrisy's brilliant record collection. plans for today, not sure. sitting around at the moment. trying to give catherine a chance to revise for her exams in geography.

well, that was as short as possible!
cheers!

bunder blunder thunder

'excuse me, ma'am, do you think these effectively hide my thunder?' - tobias funke, arrested development.

well i think i remember posting a bit ago that there were 10 or so days left before my holiday in england. as of today, it seems that i only have 2 days left of preparations before my trip on the 11th. my flight leaves at 6:50am and they say you should get to the airport two and a half hours ahead of time, which means, i have to arrive at LAX around 4am. which means, we have to leave the house around 3am, which means we need to wake up around 2am. which means, i'm going to bed around 7pm. which means, tonight i should consider going to bed around 9pm and tommarow around 8pm. work my way into it, you know. also, wake up early as well. so...tonight, sleep at 9, wake up at 6am. tommarow, sleep at 8pm wake up at 5am. whilst, that doesn't really come close to waking up at 2 in the morning, you can't expect me to wake up at 3am on monday morning and 4 am tommarow, CAN YOU?! maybe i should practise sleeping for only 7 hours...arghaha, no way. leave that up to the alarm.

well, that was a lot of rambling. i suppose i am close to ready. i have tossed clothes into my suitcase but i haven't sorted them out. i suppose i'll do that tommarow. i want to be 'ready to go' tommarow, leaving just catch-up stuff for monday. i really don't havea lot of time to waste on monday since i have to be in bed early and all that sort.

i'm a bit nervous about once i arrive in england, i don't know what to expect. i'm excited though. i think i should have a good time. i hope so! 2 weeks of no fun is NOT ANY FUN AT ALL, now is it?

japanese for dinner again and i'm stuffed. i need to drink more water, as well. i hope our water heater doesn't go out again. it has been turning off once a day now because of the non-stop rain southern california has been recieving. we're being 'pummeled' which, i might add, is a funny word. i think there is snow waiting for me in st. paul.

looks like it's miso and rice for breakfast!

we're a japanese family. at least, when i cook.

last night my sister and i made beef udon soup and rice. the udon noodles were frightful because we tried to make them from scratch (big mistake). next time, we've decided, we'll buy them in the package like any smart american would. even, any smart japanese would.

this morning we are eating miso soup and steamed rice. i think i needed to put a bit more miso. my mom didn't have any breakfast because she went out with her friend for coffee. my sister is in the shower....so, i'm the only one who has had any japanese breakfast. i think i'll add a bit more miso to their soup in the saucer before my sister is all dressed. my mom said she'll have some for lunch.

tonight, though, we're eating beef sukiyaki, or is it just sukiyaki? probably. let me find a photo...

that's about what it should look like. there is something called 'fu' that i couldn't locate. there is a mistuwa near my house (naturally) i think i will stop by there and try to find it. that, and buy some yummy sodas and stuff...

i have some stunning photos of carl from the other day. erica (his sister), my roommates, and myself took part in creating a 'mohawk' out of carl's hair. the end result was interesting. here are some photos:

so that's that. uhm, yes, that's my nose there. erica is the one leaning against the wall. the other two girls are my roommates. lauren is making the scary face, and aria is the one cowering....or something.

the new mythical queen of andanolis

my first post of january! what excitement. do you know this means? i now have a legitimate archive!

carl and i have decided to ban fast food for 2 months. this NOT a new years resolution. it just so happens that we were eating at carl's jr. (hardee's for the lot of you outside of california) and carl said, "i think this has been enough fast food to last a week." and i said, "a month. no, 2 months." we'd been eating out a lot in the past few days, you see.

so he asked if he could hold me to it. i told him yes, so we shook on it. and so neither of us can eat fast food until my birthday on 1st march 2005. i am in trouble though....it seems he wants to count sweets as part of the deal. but...i just don't know if i can allow this to happen.

( Carl's note: This is my first and probably only access to her little deal here. She can eat sweets if she wants. Only we are accountable to eachother. I guess if her eating sweets is proportional to my wanting to eat glorious mexican food, than we can strike a harmonious balance between the two. )

anyhow, we saw 'the motorcycle diaries' which, i recommend to all who are interested. it's about che guvara a revolutionary during the late 1950's and into 1969.

well, it's time for me to say goodbye to all our company....gotta go to the bank...gotta go to upland..gotta find out if i still have a job, that kind of stuff. cheers all. and yes, i did see that little carl's note....by the way, his name is not Carl anymore. it's Chico Carlito.
